About Me

Hello! I'm Cynthia, and I've spent more than twenty years helping organizations find the right words when it matters most. From national disasters and medical firsts to health crises, and the all-too-familiar "we need a statement by noon." My career has lived at the intersection of service, strategy, and storytelling, and I've learned that good communication isn't about what you say, but rather about how people feel when they hear it.

Before writing Redefined, I served as Senior Director of Corporate Communications for Tidal Basin Group, where I led national storytelling efforts around disaster preparedness and community resilience. Before that, I held senior communications roles at Johns Hopkins Medicine, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, and the American Red Cross, where I served on the national Communications team and as a bilingual spokesperson.

From local affiliates to national headlines, I’ve had the privilege of working with media in top markets including New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. My work has been featured by CNN, BBC, Univision, EFE, and The New York Times, and I’ve helped prepare leaders for interviews with Good Morning America, The Washington Post, USA Today, and The Guardian.

I’ve collaborated with public figures ranging from several heads of state, Shaquille O’Neal, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to Pitbull. Still, the only time I was truly starstruck was when Darth Vader walked through the doors of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to visit the patients.

I hold a BS in communications from Appalachian State University and an MS in management from St. Thomas University. I grew up in South Florida and later traded Colombian empanadas for Maryland crab cakes, though I’ll happily eat both if given the chance.

I live with my tech-loving husband, our two incredible kids, and a small zoo that includes dogs, parrots, and a super chill cat named Mochi. I’m most myself when I’m cheering from the sidelines at my son’s soccer games, singing loudly in the car with my daughter, training for a Spartan race, or enjoying a cup of matcha.

Redefined,
now available on Amazon and Kindleis my first book, but probably not my last.

(And putting my PR hat back on, YES, I'm available for media interviews and speaking engagements on redefining success in the modern workplace, resilience, and AI)
